SPEC 2999

Teacher Education Requirements

To be admitted into your professional coursework in special education/early childhood education or deaf education  you must pass SPEC  2999 with an “S” for satisfactory. You will receive a satisfactory if all of the following criteria have been met:

¨     Register with Live Text

¨     Complete the online Disposition survey in Livetext (this will be done during your one class meeting time)

¨     Have a cumulative 2.5 gpa;

¨     Have completed 30 hours of coursework in your core curriculum and passed the Regents exams;

¨     Complete a criminal background check (done at the COE building, second floor)

¨     Have proof of educational liability insurance (done at the COE building, second floor)

¨     Pass Praxis I or exempt it

o       Exempt with SAT of 1000 or ACT 43

o       Pass Praxis I with/

§         Score of 176 or better in Reading, 174 or better in Writing, 176 or better in Mathematics OR…..a total of 526 points or better;
