Minutes
James LaPlant called the meeting
to order at
Dr. LaPlant provided the committee with an update on the new connection between the IPC and the University Council. The chair of the IPC is now one of the Faculty Senate representatives on the University Council. Dr. LaPlant circulated a document with diversity, enrollment and retention, academic programs, and financial support goals. Dr. Krotseng provided an update on the enrollment and retention goals.
Dr. Noll has been updating the IPC website. Dr. Noll announced that minutes from previous minutes have been uploaded to the website.
Dr. Noll raised the issue of legislative debates concerning an “academic bill of rights.” There was a general discussion of the implications for academic freedom on college campuses. A campus forum or panel discussion in the fall might address this issue. It was also suggested that the university attorney might conduct a workshop on legal issues and contemporary court cases on this topic.
Dr. LaPlant announced that Dr.
Noll will chair the IPC next year and serve on the University Council. The meeting was adjourned at
